At Medical Students for Choice, we believe that medical students should have clinical exposure to abortion care.
MSFC has two programs to support medical students’ efforts to receive this exposure.
- MSFC’s Reproductive Health Externship Funding Program (RHE) provides medical students with financial support for receiving clinical exposure to abortion care outside of their institution’s standard curriculum. Externs should spend at least 2 weeks in a clinic or clinics of their choice. Accepted applicants qualify for a stipend to offset the costs associated with participating in the externship.
- MSFC’s Clinical Abortion Observation is an opportunity for medical students to spend anywhere from 3 days up to 2 weeks in a clinical setting receiving exposure to abortion care. Financial assistance is also available for this opportunity.

In addition to these two clinic-based programs, MSFC’s Abortion Training Institute is an application-based, intensive two-day educational opportunity for medical students to learn about abortion from family planning experts in a small-group conference setting. Accepted applicants will receive full funding to attend.
All medical students who are currently enrolled and in good standing at a medical school are encouraged to apply for the Reproductive Health Externship Funding Program or the Clinical Abortion Observation.
