Training to Competence Externship

How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the Training to Competence Externship (TCE) program! To help you get started, we’ve outlined the application process below.

Please note that all documents should be submitted to MSFC Headquarters at least one month before the expected start date of your externship.

Step 1: Please complete and submit the TCE Application Form to MSFC Headquarters. Forms can be emailed to externs@msfc.org or faxed to 215-625-4848.

Step 2: MSFC will contact you after receiving your application documents. Staff can help you select a host facility and provide you with the contact information for potential host sites. Our Host Facility Map is a great tool for identifying a site committed to hosting MSFC externs.

Step 3: Contact the host facility at which you would like to participate, inquiring if they would be able to host you during your dates of availability. Please have your secured host facility complete the Host Facility Confirmation Form.

Step 4: Complete your application by submitting the TCE Budget Form, personal statement, letter of good standing, and completed host facility confirmation form to MSFC Headquarters.

Step 5: If all submitted documents suffice, you will receive an official acceptance letter, a link to our Pre-Externship Survey, and any follow-up materials. You must complete the survey and return any follow-up documents before the start of your externship.

The first half of your stipend will be disbursed at the midpoint of your externship, and the second half after the completion of your externship, following your completion of the Post-Externship Survey and submission of all relevant receipts to MSFC Headquarters.
