Abortion clinics, student group sue over Michigan’s 24-hour waiting period

A Michigan abortion provider and a pro-abortion rights student group have filed suit against the state in a challenge of longstanding state abortion regulations that they say violate the right to abortion in the state constitution.
The lawsuit filed on behalf of the Northland Family Planning Centers and Medical Students for Choice in the Court of Claims challenge laws requiring a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion, the dissemination of certain information to a patient before an abortion and prohibitions on the ability of advanced practice clinicians to perform abortions…
