The Supreme Court has announced that they’ll weigh in on South Carolina’s efforts to prevent Medicaid patients from visiting Planned Parenthood—a case with national implications for low-income patients across the country.
The short version is that South Carolina Republicans sparked a legal battle in 2018 when they prohibited Planned Parenthood from participating in its Medicaid program. This past March, an appeals court found in favor of the reproductive rights organization, ruling that patients have the right to choose any qualified healthcare provider.
